gochi assemble
the gochi assemble word of value:
KULEANA
Kuleana is the Hawaiian word meaning “responsibility”.
We have a responsibility to grow into our best selves, to have better society, to develop our creative skills, to preserve our heritage, and to take care of the earth.
About us…
When Skoti went through a pretty low point in life, he didn’t have much, all he had was his body and saw that as a tool and this is where he turned to volunteering. What a lesson to learn, what a way to provide a sense of self worth by being of service to his community. Helping with low-level construction, working the land, helping with conservation and just generally doing labouring jobs that the members of the local community struggled to do.
Fast forward a few years, along with his friend, Darren Agnew (big thanks to this guy, pivotal doesn’t even begin to honour his input), and the ‘ASSEMBLE’ arm of his business was created. A volunteer project that takes his clients (both 1:1 and class attendees) and shows them their body can be used beyond the gym or their sport. Their new found strength, mobility and functionality can be applied to being of physical service in the form of community projects.
What kind of projects do we do:
Conservation work
Light construction
Repurposing of land
Woodland management
Though, if you have project ideas, please free to get in touch and we can see what can be done.
We have worked with:
Your Earth School, Old Trafford, Manchester
Bentley House Estate TARA aka ‘Redbricks’ , Hulme, Manchester
Homes For Change aka ‘Yellow Bricks’, Hulme, Manchester
Friends of Kersal Dale , Kersal Dale, Salford

We have worked on some brilliant projects and the days are enjoyable as well. It’s a great way to connect with people, develop a sense of self worth, purpose and confidence whilst making good use of the hard work you’ve put in the gym or your fitness classes.
We aim for 1-3 volunteer days a month (which has grown depending on how many volunteers we have amongst us). What we ideally look for is the following:
Be in the habit of going the gym/sport/coaching.
At least one day a month you’re able to commit (a day could be between 4-6 hours). We do encourage more though, obviously :p.
An understanding of our mission.
Beyond volunteering on the day and getting stuck in with the good stuff, we are looking for additional team members to volunteer with the organisation of these events. In the form there will be a drop down menu to select
OUR MISSION
To show people they can use their body away from the gym/sport.
To develop a sense of confidence for the individuals, inspiring them to see that they have something to give: Themselves.
To create community that understands a sense of collective responsibility for the world around them (Kuleana).
To give back to our local community, through applying the strength, functionality and capabilities we have developed through training.
To have a positive impact via the means of low-level construction, conservation and other volunteering tasks.
To contribute towards longevity in life by encouraging wholesome social environments and friendships, along with low level physical impact on the body.
